Road Trip: Destination Galveston Part III

Saturday morning started out extremely rough. Not only did we have a hangover, but we woke up startled thinking Jeremy forfeited his match. Thank goodness his first match was not until 1 p.m. instead of 10:30 a.m. as we originally thought! One-pocket was the first event to start off the Galveston World Classic with 8-Ball second, and 10-Ball to close the event. Jeremy did not place well in either of the events. If I'm not mistaken, he did not even get to the cash. You might all agree with me...that is very unusual for Jeremy. He really didn't play bad in the event; he just simply got beat. It happens to the best of them. As the week progressed, Jeremy had a few opportunities to gamble with other players. First, he played Joey Gray, then days later he played John Schmidt a couple sets. Jeremy came out ahead in both. Also, Jeremy was asked to commentate a few matches for the live stream table, and he was happy to do so. He is not only a gifted and titled pool player, but he is skilled at speaking and teaching the art of shooting pool. If he can't be the one battling in the match, he would like to be commentating the play-by-play. Who knows, maybe there is a future in it for him? So, the tourney was not a total loss, matter-of-fact, it wasn't a loss at all.
We shared some great and not so great memories with some of our friends over he past few weeks...Good, being the celebration of our marriage with our friends and family, experiencing the first of many tournaments hopefully to filter across the country, and reuniting with friends we have missed dearly since our move. Bad, being the hostile attack of mosquitoes over the island, remembering the devastation Hurricane Ike cost the locals a year before, and catching the contagious funk people were so kind to spread throughout. The good memories definitely supersede the bad!

Road Trip: Destination Galveston Part II

So, we made our way to Houston a few days before The World Classic started, and spent our time tying up loose ends. Jeremy has not matched up since we left New Orleans. My girls and I spent a day poolside soaking up some rays and catching up on gossip. Jeremy spent an evening starting his fantasy football. After a few days of him practicing at Bogies Billiards, he was ready to head to the island for some rest and preparation for our party. On the way to Galveston, we stopped in at Legends to check out the crowd awaiting their departure to the tournament. Friday, September 11, was the finalization of our marriage...a private party with our close friends and family celebrating our union in marriage. The cocktail party was suppose to be poolside at the Moody Garden Hotel, alongside the Moody Convention Center, host of the pool tournament; however, the weather God had a different idea, ugh. In case of unlikely weather, we had a room reserved indoors to ensure a dry and worry free time. The party started at 7:30 p.m., ending whenever. People seemed to be like-minded with me...never show up on-time or early, instead let it liven up. I was even a tad late due to a traffic and weather burdened limo. FYI, it is really hard to enter and exit a limo in heels and a dress, lol. Everyone raved about the food, saying it was great. By the look of the leftovers, I would have to agree. Jeremy and I were so involved in mingling, we did not have a chance to sample the food, but we sure did sample the beverages. Wink, Wink! Our friends and family did a great job intertwining with each other, and some heart-felt speeches made us feel confirmed our union was blessed. Overall, the night was amazing! I can not wait to see the pictures! I will provide a link to the photos when the photographer passes them on to me. Thanks to all the people who showed their love...MUAH!

Road Trip: Destination Galveston Part I

Jeremy and I have been on a road trip, not our first road trip nor our last, but a road trip ultimately arriving to our destination in Galveston, TX. As you all know, Jeremy and I are now husband and wife; we got married, went on a hot air balloon ride, then hit the road. Our first stop was in Oklahoma City in hopes of pool action, but instead ended up just eating recommended Mexican food at Ted's Café Escondido. We drove our full tummies to Shreveport, La., to get some rest. From there, we headed to Alexandria to visit my dad's grave. Our path continued to a local poolroom in New Orleans (Nawlins) to hopefully get a pool game to help Jeremy get in stroke for the Galveston World Classic event. Jeremy and Jamie Farrell gambled for a few short hours before we headed to get some much needed sleep. By the way, Jeremy won! The next day we met West Bank John and friends at his country club to play a round of golf. After golf, JJ (Jeremy Jones) and I went to the French Quarter to eat some local seafood cuisine, showered, stopped by the poolroom and then closed the night at Harrah's Casino. We actually won a small coin too!
