Saturday morning started out extremely rough. Not only did we have a hangover, but we woke up startled thinking Jeremy forfeited his match. Thank goodness his first match was not until 1 p.m. instead of 10:30 a.m. as we originally thought! One-pocket was the first event to start off the Galveston World Classic with 8-Ball second, and 10-Ball to close the event. Jeremy did not place well in either of the events. If I'm not mistaken, he did not even get to the cash. You might all agree with me...that is very unusual for Jeremy. He really didn't play bad in the event; he just simply got beat. It happens to the best of them. As the week progressed, Jeremy had a few opportunities to gamble with other players. First, he played Joey Gray, then days later he played John Schmidt a couple sets. Jeremy came out ahead in both. Also, Jeremy was asked to commentate a few matches for the live stream table, and he was happy to do so. He is not only a gifted and titled pool player, but he is skilled at speaking and teaching the art of shooting pool. If he can't be the one battling in the match, he would like to be commentating the play-by-play. Who knows, maybe there is a future in it for him? So, the tourney was not a total loss, matter-of-fact, it wasn't a loss at all.
We shared some great and not so great memories with some of our friends over he past few weeks...Good, being the celebration of our marriage with our friends and family, experiencing the first of many tournaments hopefully to filter across the country, and reuniting with friends we have missed dearly since our move. Bad, being the hostile attack of mosquitoes over the island, remembering the devastation Hurricane Ike cost the locals a year before, and catching the contagious funk people were so kind to spread throughout. The good memories definitely supersede the bad!
